In 2006 and 2009, I visited Anyang, China. I was shocked and moved when I saw in person, examples of oracle bone inscriptions and bronze inscriptions. They are both the prototype of today's Chinese calligraphy.

But as a lifelong student of calligraphy, I have always felt that Malaysian Chinese calligraphy is overly influenced by its roots in China. And rarely take inspiration and elements from the diverse local culture in Malaysia when compared to other art forms.

Still of Mind is informed by my encounter with the oracle bones. And the result of my continued exploration of ways to integrate the characteristics of Chinese calligraphy with local Malaysian culture.
